me

A peaceful relationship with food is the foundation of nutrition.

For many of us, food brings guilt, stress, and worries most of the time as we have been eating with diet rules and restrictions. Dieting makes our inner voice suppressed and ignored, and lets us forget that we were all born intuitive eaters. By reconnecting with our inner wisdom, we can trust ourselves to make choices around food and nourish our body, mind, and soul!

Nutrition to Me

My Journey

Seeing loved ones suffered from illness made me realize the importance of taking care of our body. I then noticed that food plays a key role in our health since it provides energy and nutrients for our body to function. That was where my nutrition journey began.

Within years of training and practice in nutrition and dietetics, my experience reinforced my belief that nutrition is one of the foundations of wellness. Furthermore, I recognized that we tend to focus on physical health but leave our mind and soul behind. In fact, food provides fuel and nutrients to meet our needs- not just physically, but also mentally, emotionally, spiritually and socially.

Learning from Intuitive Eating and Health at Every Size® makes me believe that we need to have a positive relationship with food and body before digging into nutrition. Therefore, I committed myself to helping more people make peace with food and take care of their own body, mind, and soul.

My Philosophy

Foods should not be labeled as “good” or “bad”

“Chocolate is bad for you.” “Vegetables are healthy.” You may find this sound familiar. It is not uncommon to see foods being labeled this way. However, labeling foods as “good” vs. “bad” is not helping with our health but in fact ruining our relationship with food. There is no “right” or “wrong” food. Balance, variety and moderation are the keys to make all foods fit!

We can trust our inner wisdom when making choices around food

We are the expert of our own life! We know ourselves better than others do; therefore, we don’t need people to make rules for us to follow. Instead of looking for external rules, we can reconnect to our internal voice and let it guide us to decide what to eat, when to eat and how much to eat.

Health cannot be determined by weight

Weight and body shapes cannot be used to measure a person’s health, beauty, or worth. Weight stigma is a crucial issue in our culture and only brings negative effects on human’s overall health. Our bodies hold us every single day and do lots of hard work for us. It deserves to be loved and respected, regardless of size.

We all can enjoy the satisfaction and happiness of eating

Foods are our friends rather than enemies. They provide fuel and nutrients for our body, mind, and soul. Foods are supposed to bring us joy and satisfaction, not guilt and shame. Focusing on all the senses while eating helps us to experience the pleasure and to be free from guilt and shame.

My Life

While food and nutrition are a big part of my life- at work and off work, I make sure to keep my personal life balanced with different matters. During my downtime, I enjoy traveling around to meet people from other countries, to learn more about different cultures, and to appreciate the beauty of the world. I also like to refresh my mind by working out, doing yoga, reading and even just window shopping!

I save time and space for self-care routines and to take care of my body, mind and soul. This is my secret of keeping myself nourished!
